Simple Kibble Soup
Good for getting non-meat eaters turned on to soups and gravies. Once accepted, meats may be added gradually.
12 Cups Water
6 Cups Ferret Kibble
12 Scoops Nupro (scooper included with nupro)
1 Tube Ferretvite
Place kibble into blender and blend on high speed until powdered.
Place small amounts of powdered kibble and water into blender and puree. Repeat until all kibble has been processed.
Place nupro and ferretvite into blender with 4 cups of water and blend well.
Combine all mixtures and stir well.
Place into serving sized containers and refrigerate or freeze.
Simple Chicken Soup
I give this recipe to my ferrets daily.
4 Pounds Ground Chicken
4 Cups Ferret Kibble
4 Cups Chicken Broth
20 Cups Water
12 Scoops Nupro (scooper included with nupro)
1 Tube Ferretvite
Cook chicken in 4 cups of water. Save water/broth.
Place kibble into blender and blend on high speed until powdered.
Place small amounts of powdered kibble and water into blender and puree. Repeat until all kibble has been processed.
Place small amounts of chicken and water into blender and puree. Repeat until all chicken has been processed.
Place nupro and ferretvite into blender with 4 cups chicken broth and blend well.
Combine all mixtures and stir well.
Place into serving sized containers and refrigerate or freeze.
Notes: Kibble may be omitted and amount of water decreased when feeding an ill ferret. Additional ingredients may be added as well. I sometimes add Wysong PDG when feeding an ailing ferret.
Sadie Mae's Chicken Soup
This was the only food, soup or otherwise, that my Sadie Mae would eat when she first came home to me. She was estimated at 4 years old and very ill at the time. This recipe fattened her up in no time and she eventually began eating kibble as well. Sadie passed at an estimated 7+ years old of Lymphoma.
1 Whole Chicken (4 - 6 Pounds), Cooked
4 Whole Chicken Legs (3 - 4 Pounds), Cooked
12-16 Cups Fresh Homemade Chicken Broth (saved from cooking chicken)
1 Tablespoon Ferretone
1/2 Tube Ferretvite
1/2 Tube Nutrical
Place small amounts of chicken (skin included, bones removed) and chicken broth into blender and puree. Repeat until all chicken has been processed.
Place ferrettone, ferretvite, nutrical and chicken broth into blender and blend well.
Combine mixtures and stir well.
Place into serving sized containers and refrigerate or freeze.
Reuben's Chicken Gravy
This was the only food, soup or otherwise, that my Reuben would eat. He was estimated at 7-8+ years old and suffering from insulinoma as well as adrenal disease when he came to me. This recipe kept him fat and happy for 8 months until he passed during surgery.
1 Whole Chicken (4 - 6 pounds), Cooked
4 Whole Chicken Legs (3 - 4 pounds), Cooked
1 Container Chicken Livers (1 pound), Cooked
12-16 Cups Fresh Homemade Chicken Broth (saved from cooking chicken)
4 Cups Ferret Kibble
1 Tablespoon Ferretone
2 Tablespoons Nupro
1/2 Tube Ferretvite
1/2 Tube Nutrical
Place kibble into blender and blend on high speed until powdered.
Place small amounts of chicken (skin included, bones removed) and chicken broth into blender and puree. Repeat until all chicken has been processed.
Place small amounts of chicken livers and chicken broth into blender and puree. Repeat until all livers have been processed.
Place small amounts of powdered kibble and chicken broth into blender and blend well. Repeat until all kibble has been processed.
Place ferrettone, ferretvite, nutrical, nupro and chicken broth into blender and blend well.
Combine all mixtures and stir well.
Place into serving sized containers and refrigerate or freeze.
